EnterpriseSG and Google Cloud partner to boost AI adoption for SMEs

Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) is aiming to boost artificial intelligence (AI) adoption and innovation by partnering with Google Cloud to launch new initiatives aimed at helping startups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) integrate AI technologies into their operations. These initiatives were announced during the AI First event at Google’s Asia Pacific headquarters.

The initiatives are part of Singapore’s broader efforts to establish itself as a leading hub for AI-driven innovation. In collaboration with global technology leaders like Google Cloud, the government aims to accelerate the development of AI-based solutions that can address pressing challenges across various industries. By supporting both startups and SMEs, the partnership seeks to strengthen Singapore’s economy and position businesses for long-term success in an AI-powered future.

The first cohort of the Google for Startups Accelerator: AI First Singapore saw 25 early-stage startups from sectors such as fintech, ad tech and climate tech develop and launch AI solutions. Startups participating in the program utilized Google Cloud’s advanced AI tools to create products that addressed real-world issues like fraud detection, solar energy optimization and food safety. The accelerator provided the startups with access to Google Cloud’s technical expertise, mentorship and AI infrastructure, equipping them with the resources needed to scale their businesses.

Following the success of the first cohort, applications for a second round of the accelerator program which is set to begin in February 2025, are now open. This expanded program will support 35 startups, offering up to $350,000 in Google Cloud credits and access to an innovation sandbox for up to three months. Participants will also benefit from technical mentorship and be able to present their AI-driven solutions to potential investors at a Demo Day, designed to boost their visibility and growth potential.

SMEs in Singapore are also set to benefit from the newly launched Gemini for Google Workspace Program. This initiative aims to enhance productivity by integrating AI-powered tools such as Gmail, Docs, Sheets and Drive into everyday business operations. The program offers SMEs up to 50% off license costs for 12 months and provides customized training sessions and consultations to help businesses maximize the use of AI in their workflows. A pilot program that was presented in August 2024 demonstrated measurable improvements in areas such as competitive analysis, customer service and marketing.
