Singapore startup CEOs earn 3.1 times more than peers in Southeast Asia

According to Glints and Monk’s Hill Ventures (MHV), startup CEOs based in Singapore earn 3.1 times more than those in other Southeast Asian countries.

The new “Southeast Asia Startup Talent Trends Report 2024” from Glints and MHV found that salaries for SG-based startup CEOs have increased significantly from the 2.1 times gap.

Data shows that those Singaporean CEOs who are at the US$11 million to US$50 million funding stage have a monthly salary of US$19,000 to US$20,000. While for CEOs from other countries, this salary ranges from US$5700 to US$6700.

Looking at the smaller funding stage of US$0 million to US$5 million, Singaporean CEOs earn about 1.7 times more than their non-Singapore counterparts. The base monthly salary of such CEOs ranges from US$6,300 to US$7,500 and US$3,500 to US$4,500.

Singaporean CEOs who are at the US$6 million to US$10 million funding stage startups earn 1.4 times more and have a monthly salary of US$7,300 to US$8,300.

Startup salaries in Singapore grew by 5%, although there was a decline in 2023. Such salaries are growing more slowly in Singapore due to greater demand for mid- and senior-level talent than supply available.

Other positions that were highlighted in the Glints and MHV report are junior project managers and senior product managers. Their salaries increased by 3% and 8% respectively.
